Порадовали лаконичный универсальный дизайн и 120-герцевый экран OLED исключительного качества, печатать на клавиатуре или пользоваться тачпадом – одно удовольствие, звук непривычно детальный и чистый для компактных ноутбуков. Автономности хватит трудоголикам на самых злых энергетиках, шума практически нет, а на перспективу есть ИИ-ускоритель и поддержка Copilot + PC. Пожалуй, единственный недостаток для первого ноутбука на Snapdragon X Elite – это его высокая стоимость.

Устойчивое энергопотребление Core Ultra 9 185H в данном случае ниже предусмотренного Intel максимума (54 из 65 Вт), но рабочие ноутбуки, как правило, и не рассчитаны на большие величины TDP. В основной массе синтетических тестов и реальных приложений Core Ultra 9 185H обеспечивает заметную прибавку быстродействия по сравнению со старшими моделями Core 13-го поколения, но придется заметить, что своими победами в бенчмарках кремний Meteor Lake обязан не в последнюю очередь именно повышенной мощности. В ряде задач Core Ultra 9 185H уступает не только «красному» Ryzen 7 8845HS, но и собственному предшественнику — Core i3-13900H, хотя оба соперника довольствуются меньшим энергопотреблением.

Add to this a nice design, a great display, a fast facial recognition system, a comfortable keyboard and touchpad, and the Vivobook S 15 is definitely one of the laptops that can be recommended for productive office work right now.

Personally, I do think that these Snapdragon X Elite laptops and Windows on Arm in general to be good if what you’re doing is supported properly by the operating system. The battery life and near-zero fan noise are just fantastic. However, if you’re planning to get this for gaming – then I’d say now is not the time. Will it get better over time? I surely hope they do. Qualcomm needs to keep up with the momentum and Microsoft needs to further improve on the Prism translation layer. App developers will also need to have an Arm version of their software to take full advantage of the Arm architecture as well.

Do you know which laptop doesn’t have this problem? That’s right, the MacBook Air 15. MacBooks use glass touchpads, whereas this particular laptop uses plastic. Going with the MacBook also nets you longer battery life. However, it’s also pricier ($1,699). For the price, the Asus Vivobook S15 S5507 does many things right.

Focusing back on the ASUS Vivobook S15 (S5507), my first impression is based mostly from the fact that this is running Windows for Arm. Barring performance hits, it is a very functional piece of hardware at its current state but Qualcomm isn’t at fault here for not being able to bring out what the hardware can offer. As detailed earlier in this article, Microsoft’s focuses on technology first and decides later how to market that technology rather than focusing on actual user needs. This hurts its partner and hurts its users who can benefit greatly from a company that sees value in user experience. That said, as it is, the ASUS Vivobook S15 S5507 is a fully-functional daily driver if you focus mostly on cloud applications to light content creation.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: Интегрированный графический адаптер, которым оснащены некоторые процессоры Snapdragon X Elite и X Plus. Adreno не поддерживает мониторы SUHD 4320p, а что касается производительности, то он не намного быстрее устаревшего iGPU Intel Iris Xe с 96 ЕС.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

SD X Elite X1E-78-100: Система-на-чипе архитектуры ARM для использования в ноутбуках с ОС Windows. X1E-78-100 - самый медленный представитель семейства Snapdragon X Elite, по состоянию на май 2024 года; он имеет 12 ядер CPU Oryon (8 P-ядер и 4 E-ядра), работающих на частоте не более 3,4 ГГц, и графический процессор Adreno с производительностью 3,8 TFLOPS. В комплект поставки входит 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, впечатляюще быстрый контроллер памяти LPDDR5x-8448, поддержка USB 4.0, поддержка TB 4 и PCIe 4.
