The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X is one of the best value Windows laptops I’ve seen for entry-level content creators. The price is very reasonable when packing in specs such as an RTX 3050 GPU, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The MacBook is the most obvious rival, with the Lenovo sitting somewhere between the M2-powered Air and M2 Pro toting Pro in terms of processing power. But the Lenovo struggles to compete when it comes to battery life and colour coverage, making it difficult to recommend to the professional creative crowd. But if you’re looking for a cost-effective MacBook alternative with enough power for casual gaming, then the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X is a superb option.

Lenovo has done a decent job of balancing the Slim 7i Pro X's various attributes. Battery life could be better but its middling results are no shock considering the components. The Core i7-12700H and Nvidia RTX 3050 offer more performance than virtually any other laptop at this size, even if those internals don't operate at their peak performance levels. You'll certainly find more screen quality on other laptops. Connectivity could be improved, especially for creatives. If the Slim 7i Pro X doesn't tick all of your boxes, you can get better battery life from rivals and smaller notebooks and more computing power from larger machines. The Lenovo offers good value, too. Its $1,595 initial price rises to just $1,760 if you add our 32GB DDR5 memory and 1TB SSD upgrades. The MacBook Pro 14 starts at $1,999, and that price soars to $2,599 if you deploy 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. Replicate the Lenovo's Slim 7i Pro X's spec sheet on a Dell XPS 13 Plus and it'll cost you $1,999, or $2,199 if you want an OLED screen.The Slim 7i Pro X may not have the screen quality of those laptops or the battery life of the MacBook, but it does deliver huge power inside a compact, robust and manageable package – and that makes it one of the best small work laptops on the market.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X is a well-crafted premium laptop that delivers good performance and features for the price. The high-resolution display, solid construction, speedy performance and fairly low weight make it a good tool for content creators and professionals who want to work when travelling. Even though it's not meant to be a gaming laptop, it can hold its own in modern 3D games if you configure it with the GeForce RTX 3050 GPU. The only real criticism that I can think of is that this particular configuration tends to run a bit warm most of the time, even if you aren't doing anything intensive. It would have been nice to have an SD card slot too, but that's not exactly a deal-breaker. It wouldn't hurt to wait a bit until Lenovo refreshes this model with 13th Gen Intel CPUs, but even if you buy it right now, this should still be good enough.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X ticks many of the most important boxes when buying a laptop. Intel’s Core i7-12700H means you get more computing and creative power than any rival – even if the slim design means the chip can’t always run at full pelt. The keyboard is reliably excellent, the display is sharp and accurate, connectivity is decent and the laptop is sturdy, good-looking and relatively svelte. You even get an Nvidia GPU. However, other laptops are slimmer and lighter, and most competitors have brighter screens with broader colours. Apple’s laptops have better battery life, too, which justifies their higher prices. Lenovo’s laptop delivers ample power, though, and that sole factor makes it worth the price if you need speed rather than battery prowess. It’s a great portable, creative machine.

In closing, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i 14″ 2022 is all about expectations: I expected this laptop to be thin and light and it is but I also expected it to perform well in our battery life test and it also did well there. What I did not expect is to see this laptop perform closely in certain benchmarks with gaming laptops we tested before. I also did not expect this laptop to perform decently in gaming. Lenovo’s Yoga line needs a shot in the arm to make it as famous as its ThinkPad counterpart and while the Yoga Slim 7i Pro doesn’t reach the heights that the Legion laptops have in terms of performance, the Yoga Slim 7i Pro which comes in just half the weight, offers nearly the same performance on productivity applications ensuring you’re not losing out whether you’re editing videos or just replying to an email. But just like its brothers, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro 14″ is a decent option if you want a work or home laptop that’s built to perform as best it can.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X is a well-balanced and extremely capable laptop that has a very portable form factor. You get some of the best hardware that manufacturers are offering at this price point, and the performance to show for it. Moreover, it is very aesthetic to look at. The display, in spite of being an IPS panel, is one of the best we have tested in thin and light notebooks. Needless to say, it is a joy to use the laptop for our day-to-day tasks. The CPU and GPU combo performs really well. The price makes the performance accessible to a whole lot more people. Thanks to the RTX 3050, the Yoga Slim 7i Pro X is also suitable for some serious gaming, even though, Lenovo isn’t positioning it as a gaming laptop. But then, any device that can carry out hard-core computing tasks such as video rendering and photo editing with ease, is bound to perform well in games. If you’re in the market looking for a portable thin and light but do not want to give up on the performance chops of a beefier laptop, then the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro X ticks all the right boxes for you.

Cleary designed for Creators who want ultra-mobility, the Lenovo Slim 7i Pro X (official page) delivers impressive configuration options and performance. Even the pricing is attractive, especially if you compare it with enterprise laptops with more security and IT features you might not want or need. Some potential customers may prefer a 4K display, but I find that option to be a bit overkill for a 14.5” laptop, and I worked in the graphics industry for 12 years. It’s a matter of preferences, I suppose. In the end, I would even recommend the Slim 7i Pro X to people who may not be Creative professionals because they might use apps that could benefit from a powerful GPU and not even know it (Zoom + NVIDIA Broadcast, for example).
