That said, as long as you don't have a Galaxy S24 series phone, it's a solid upgrade across the board. If you have any Galaxy S21 model, Galaxy S22+, or even the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the latest Galaxy S25+ is fantastic and way closer to the Ultra this year than the older generations. I'd argue this is the Samsung Galaxy model most people should get. If you've ever owned a Samsung Galaxy, you know what you're getting, and that's perfectly fine. Consistency doesn't have to be a bad thing. There's nothing special here that we didn't see last year. Those coming from an older phone will love it, and for everyone else with a Galaxy S24, there's always next year.

It was expected that the Galaxy S25+ would end up being a pretty underwhelming phone, but it’s turned out to be the opposite. Maybe that’s just One UI 7 working on a slightly snappier infrastructure, but it feels like Samsung is finally getting to the pinnacle of things. The design of the phone is all too familiar, but is that a bad thing? I happen to think the Galaxy S24 was a beautiful shift to a modern look without the fluff that other OEMs try to imbue. The phone looks good year after year, and it now packs the best hardware it possibly can, other than a lower RAM amount for some unknown reason. The point is that One UI 7 makes this phone. Of course, that also means the Galaxy S24 series will get most of what the OS offers on this device in a couple of months — hopefully.

70% I've been using the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus for over a week, and I don't understand why they exist

The TL;DR here is that the vast majority of people with an already capable phone should not buy the Galaxy S25 or Galaxy S25 Plus. Of course, that won’t stop these phones from selling just fine. You see, I know what Samsung is doing here. These phones are only slightly better than the Galaxy S24 series, but they are much better than the Galaxy S22 series. For example, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus have smaller displays that aren’t nearly as bright. They also have smaller batteries and weaker selfie cameras. Obviously, they also have weaker processors, especially if you bought one with an Exynos 2200 SoC. What Samsung is assuming here is that the people who have been holding on to a Galaxy S22 (or an even older phone) will see the Galaxy S25 as a significant upgrade.

The cameras are identical on both models, too. However, I’m disappointed that the battery life performance isn’t longer given how the S25 Plus has a much larger capacity. Another thing that softens the Galaxy S25 Plus’ value is that it’s competing at the same price as the iPhone 16 Pro. The Galaxy S25 Plus clearly doesn’t have as good of a camera performance, especially in the telephoto zoom department.

That means it’s a consistently good phone – great, even – and the Galaxy AI additions are very slick. But they’ll almost certainly head to older models in an OTA update over the coming months, so if there’s an S24 Plus in your pocket right now, I strongly advise holding onto it for at least another year. And if you’re not wedded to Samsung’s wider ecosystem, the longer lasting, faster charging OnePlus 13 is seriously tempting for similar cash.

I promised I’d be fair, and while it pains me to say it, the Galaxy S25+ is the best choice for millions of smartphone users. If you don’t like the smaller screen of the standard Galaxy S25, the S25+ is a better choice than the Ultra, allowing you to save money and get much of the same performance. Samsung did an excellent job narrowing down the features casual users look for, such as a fantastic display, solid battery life, and good photos, while leaving enough deficiencies below the surface to make a tech journalist lose sleep. I’m practical enough to know Samsung fans should pick up a Galaxy S25+ if they’re coming from an older device on a typical carrier upgrade cycle, but that doesn’t mean I give Samsung a gold star when I know the company is capable of doing much more.

Others like Portrait Studio and Drawing Assist may be fun for keynote demos, but don't seem to serve a real purpose beyond that. (But it wouldn't be a Galaxy phone without a flashy feature no one uses, right??) Thankfully, the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus continue to deliver on what, to me, makes the Galaxy S series notable: good cameras, solid battery life and a seamless interface. Because there are so many similarities between the S25 and S25 Plus, and the higher battery capacity on the Plus didn't result in any startling differences (although superfast charging is great), I'd personally save some money and just go with the baseline S25.

So, at the end of the review – should you buy the Samsung Galaxy S25+? Well, I do think that I’m in a unique position to talk about this because I am using the S24+ with Exynos 2400 for the past year. And I do think that it’s just not worth upgrading whether if you’re using the the S24+ with the Exynos or Snapdragon version. The improvement is just not that much. However, if you are coming from the S23+ or older, then yes – it’s a good time to upgrade. Remember, the S24+ is the generation that got a “redesign” with a bigger battery, better screen with tiny bezels, and also a high-resolution 1440p resolution. And that’s all that we have to share with you in today’s video about the Galaxy S25+ and also sort of a comparison with the S24+ with the Exynos 2400. While this is most definitely a hot take – I am quite disappointed that the Exynos 2500 is not available this for the S25+. It would’ve been great to see what kind of improvements that Samsung had been cooking.

How do I summarize the Galaxy S25 Plus experience? After two weeks, I’m still taken back to my first two days with it and the range of emotions I felt. As it turns out, they summarize the entire experience extremely well. At first, I was excited to review the Galaxy S25 Plus as it was my first time using Samsung’s middle phone extensively. The feel in the hand, the weight, and the color all felt great and I was excited to dig in. When I did so, the cracks began to appear. First, the durability concerns. Second, the camera’s shortcomings. These two combined to make the phone feel somewhat lackluster. The lack of improvement in the camera aside, this is not down to Samsung. The performance is second to none, the battery is outstanding and even the charging is approaching more than acceptable.

Most of the new AI features seem to revolve around Google Gemini, which is also available on cheaper phones such as the Xiaomi 14T Pro, so I'm a bit confused by the positioning here. Given how expensive the Galaxy S25 phones are compared with their Chinese rivals, they don't seem to have enough to stand out for now. But then again, I wonder just how much AI features people use, and whether these features drive adoption. My gut says probably not a lot. Prices start from S$1,288 for the Samsung Galaxy S25 (256GB), S$1,478 for the Galaxy S25+ (256GB), and S$1,828 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra (256GB). Pre-orders are now open till Feb 13. In other news, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is finally available now in Singapore at S$538. We hope to get the review units for these devices soon, so stay tuned.

The problem for me is that most of these features are hard to test in-depth when you’re at a launch event using a phone that isn’t yours, has few apps installed and no accounts signed in, and might have only been set up for the first time that morning.

If you've got money to burn and want the best possible camera setup, check out that Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. This upgrades the ultra-wide to 50MP, while you get the same 200MP main shooter and dual lens telephoto camera arrangement as usual. This 6.9-inch behemoth of a phone also offers that S Pen stylus and more rugged design vs the S25 and Plus. All three boast a glorious Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that's pleasingly bright and poppy, although only the Ultra has that Armor 2 anti-reflection glass. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus sports the same QHD+ resolution, while all three are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite. So gamers should be satisfied, especially as Sammy has boosted the vapor chamber size. No changes in the battery setup however. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and its smaller siblings stick with the same capacity as the S24 series. Likewise, charging speeds haven't improved - although you do get Qi 2 wireless charging support in 2025.

While the hardware is solid as always, it doesn’t really push the envelope in terms of specs, which is somewhat disappointing. That being said, the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC that powers these devices should deliver a nice boost in overall performance, along with improved thermals on the S25 Ultra. This should help to maintain performance during extended use. And again, some of the new AI features and functionality – like Gemini being able to interact directly with apps, and the “Personal Data Engine” secure, on-device LLM – is very intriguing. The good news is that the rumors about price hikes weren't true, so the starting price of the entry-level configurations remains the same - €1,450/£1,250 for the S25 Ultra, €1,150/£1,000 for the S25+ and the vanilla asks €900/£800. The bad news is that all three offer modest upgrades over their predecessors, especially the S25 and the S25+. They both feel kind of neglected this time around. And while the S25 Ultra's new, more pocketable design is certainly exciting, the S Pen has lost its wireless connectivity features, which were the sole reason many of us here at GSMArena HQ took the stylus out to begin with. Samsung might as well do a full circle and offer a version without the stylus altogether. Anyway, one thing is clear - Samsung is betting big on AI and software polish and improvements, but it's early to say how this move will pan out regarding sales.

The S25 starts at $1,198 CAD, the S25+ at $1,438.99, and the S25 Ultra at the insane price of $1,918.99; we can blame this on our dollar. Although the U.S. price for the S25 Ultra starts at $1,299, which converts to $1,862 CAD, so it looks like there’s a bit of a Canadian premium. I expect a similar experience to last year’s phones, but I hope these AI features will surprise me and upgrade the experience. I’ll put the S25 Ultra through its paces for the next two weeks. My end feeling having spent a little time with the new Samsung phones is that it’s more of the same. Yes, we get a powerful new chipset this year, and a LOT of AI stuff, but the experience of holding, using and owning the latest S25 Plus will feel very much like the last one. It’s clear each new generation is just a small jump on the last one, and that’s very much true, perhaps more than ever, with the latest. With companies putting so much focus and attention on AI, there’s less focus on improving and upgrading hardware. If you have a 3-4 year old Samsung, by all means you’ll feel a difference jumping up those three or four generations, but anyone with a Samsung phone from the last two years will have very little reason to upgrade. Still, if you are upgrading this year, I still get the sense that this takes some good bits from the Ultra, offered in a package that’s lighter, slimmer and more affordable, hopefully retaining its spot as the Goldilocks Samsung phone for 2025.

Qualcomm Adreno 830: Интегрированный графический блок в SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite для смартфонов с тремя платами по 1,1 ГГц каждая. Встроенный общий кэш-память объемом 12 МБ для трех сегментов. По данным Qualcomm, на 40% быстрее, чем предыдущее поколение (Adreno 750).

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

SD 8 Elite f. Galaxy: Высокотехнологичный SoC (System on a Chip) для смартфонов, который был представлен в конце 2024 года. В него интегрированы два быстрых ядра Oryon Gen 2 Prime с частотой до 4,47 ГГц и 6 меньших ядер Oryon Gen 2 Performance с частотой до 3,53 ГГц. По сравнению с обычным Snapdragon 8 Elite, вариант "для Galaxy" предлагает немного более высокую тактовую частоту.
