There's a lot to like about the Lenovo LOQ on first glance. The feel of this laptop and the design doesn't scream basic - in fact some might be taken by that slightly more subtle design than some other gaming laptops. We also love the rear IO and the colour detail to the vents around the chassis - it looks great. We have high hopes for this laptop, but obviously haven't had the opportunity to test it to any degree. But with plentiful hardware options and a wide range of features on offer, the Lenovo LOQ could be a great choice for someone looking for a powerful PC that doesn't cost the earth.

The Lenovo LOQ 15, as I’ve seen so far, could be a contender for one of the best cheap gaming laptops for gamers. It features some great specs, both in hardware and display, while choosing options that keep its price point down. If its configurations can deliver on the $900 and up MSRP, then we’ll have our clear winners for this generation. That's not to mention how much lighter this machine is than some of the offerings we’ve seen this generation yet. If the price is truly right — and it should be with the option to customize and lower pricing even more, as well as the choice between AMD and Intel CPUs — then we could be looking at the kind of mix between value and performance that’s long overdue in the gaming market.

It looks recognisably from the brand, and it behaves in a similar fashion when under stress. Its lasting power while not plugged in is left wanting. Which is fine, as it’s not the laptop’s primary purpose, but when you do find yourself in such a situation, you’ll feel the pressure to get your work done more while using it. On the flip side, if there is a reason that this laptop stars in its own brand new series of gaming laptops rather than joining the Legion line, it is probably not due to its lack of gaming prowess.

The Lenovo LOQ 15 is an above average affordable gaming laptop, particularly if you fork out for some of the available upgrades. Lenovo’s 165Hz 1440p display? Worth it, as the base display is undersaturated. The Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card? Absolutely. And unlike some other brands' upgrades, these ones are sensibly priced. The keyboard is great, as is the overall look and feel of the Lenovo LOQ 15. It just doesn't seem as cheap and basic as much of the competition. There's just one part I wish was better - the tone of the fan noise. As long as you're happy with this, the mediocre touchpad and lack of ultra-fast connectivity, it's a really great option.

While it may be quite a jump from that original ‘starting from RM3,699’ price tag, the Lenovo LOQ 15 that we reviewed still isn’t that bad especially when you consider that its entry level gaming laptop rivals have been going up in price too. The new Acer Nitro 16 for instance with comparable specs (AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RTX 4060) to the Lenovo LOQ 15 that we have here is priced at RM6,399. If we were to compare with what the Lenovo Malaysia website has on offer though, its RTX 4050-powered Lenovo LOQ 15 is still cheaper than the RTX 4050-powered Acer Nitro 16 that’s priced at RM5,799, though in both cases the Nitro 16 does have a taller 16-inch, 16:10 WQXGA display with the same 165Hz refresh rate.

Considering its price tag and performance capabilities, the Lenovo LOQ (15″ Intel, 2023) is one of the best affordable gaming notebooks you can get right now. Of course, this doesn’t take into consideration the temperatures and some features that are missing. In our opinion, the regular user won’t be interested in them. In terms of pure gaming experience, you don’t really need an SD card slot, nor a Thunderbolt 4 port. However, you might want a MUX switch, and the LOQ 15 delivers in this department. Lenovo LOQ (15″ Intel, 2023)’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio. Its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment, which is great.

So wrapping up this Lenovo LOQ 15 review, it’s fair to say that it is one heck of a gaming laptop on a budget that gets a lot of things right. Especially since this combo of the latest Ryzen 7 7840HS and RTX 4060 processors — mixed with a smooth 144Hz G-SYNC ready display — is a great recipe for 1080p gaming. And seeing how most of the competition with a similar setup cost quite a bit more, the LOQ 15 stands out as a solid offering. Having said that, there are a few turnoffs here that may or may not matter to you. Like its cheap plastic build, that so-so display, and a few other things. But I think these mild turnoffs are something you can live with just fine, considering everything the LOQ 15 offers for the price.

You can go cheaper by buying an RTX 4050 model, but this version hits the sweet spot between price and performance, giving you ample power for 1080p gaming without any serious compromises, but at a price point that’s closer to reasonable than ridiculous. There are some good machines hovering around this price point, with both the HP Victus 16 and Acer Nitro 5 giving strong bang for the buck. But, for my money, the LOQ 15 wins thanks to its better, brighter screen and its RTX 4060 spec. If you want to game without paying silly money, it’s an excellent buy.

For shoppers who simply can’t spend any more than this on a laptop, you do have an option, but it’s not near the best value just because it’s the least expensive. For a couple hundred dollars more, the Nitro V 15 is a much better deal, relative to its build and performance. The other LOQ configurations are more worth your consideration, too. While the standard 1080p display is good enough though, I would rather have a higher resolution 1440p display at this size format. Despite not having premium aesthetics, I was pretty satisfied with the implementation as the laptop doesn’t look cheap and seems to justify the cost. Of course, it is bulkier than most modern gaming notebooks, and falls behind when it comes to battery life, which is something that most gaming laptops struggle with anyway. Other minor points of concern are the webcam and speakers, both of which are average. Competitors like the ASUS TUF Gaming A16, Dell G15 Gaming, and the new MSI Cyborg 15 with Intel’s new Core Ultra processors, are all viable options available in the same price range.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности способны на многое и подойдут для большинства игр, иногда даже при максимальных настройках и разрешениях. Чаще всего GPU "просто верхнего" уровня производительности расходуют заметно меньше энергии, чем самые-самые топовые и дорогие модели.
NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU: Графическая карта среднего уровня для ноутбуков на базе архитектуры Ada Lovelace. Предлагает 6 ГБ VRAM GDDR6 (96 бит) и настраивается с ТГП от 35 до 115 Вт (+ Dynamic Boost).
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU: Графическая карта для игровых ноутбуков среднего уровня, основанная на чипе Ampere GA107. AMD Phoenix (Zen 4):
