Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 был бы совершенно типичным ультрабуком, хотя и обладающим стильным дизайном и высоким качеством сборки, если бы не конструктивные особенности, раскрывающие, в буквальном смысле, его уникальность. Экран модели, как уже говорилось, может поворачиваться на 360 градусов, превращая ноутбук в большой 13-дюймовый планшет. На самом деле, как подсказывают специалисты Lenovo, способов применения этой особенности несколько больше — они предлагают четыре основных. Кроме ноутбука и планшета это режим презентации, в котором перевертнутая клавиатура служит опорой, а экран — к зрителям, а также режим консоли. Очевидно, что эти режимы предназначены больше для офисного и рабочего применения, хотя на практике они оказываются полезны и в домашней обстановке, и в поездках.

Lenovo has included some added extras that allegedly make using Windows 8 easier. One of these, Motion Control, meant we could wave at the laptop to get it to perform basic tasks. By using the webcam the laptop could skip music tracks or move between photos when we waved a hand at it. Clever, but it has limited uses at present.

Like most of the Windows 8 convertible tablet/laptops we’ve looked at, the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 isn’t quite the perfect hybrid. However, if you regard it as a touch-screen Ultrabook with a cool twist, it certainly succeeds. It’s generally well-built, looks stylish and feels great, and its flexible hinge gives you lots of different usage scenarios. While no match for the ThinkPad range, its keyboard is pleasant enough to type on and its touchpad is lovely, while that 1,600 x 900 IPS screen supports 10-finger touch. It also has plenty of power under the hood, and backs this with decent battery life. If a more affordable Core i3/i5 version becomes available in the UK, it’ll be a steal.

The Yoga 13 has a rather enthralling design, mostly because of the dexterous design. It remains very thin as an ultrabook, and the ability to sustain various Yoga positions makes it useful in various usage scenarios otherwise unimagined till now. Ever thought your ultrabook could sit with you on the counter, displaying the recipe while you cook? Exactly my point. Excellent battery life makes it even more of a value for money proposition. The keyboard is quite disappointing though, not in terms of the key response and consistency, but for the dip when you type. All things considered, the Yoga 13 is a slightly better deal than the Dell XPS 12 convertible.

In our review of the Yoga 11 we felt that too much cash was being asked for what amounted to too little in return. Enter the IdeaPad Yoga 13, however, and it tackles these issues head on: it's got more power and, importantly, runs the full version of Windows 8, so it can do much more. Overall there are more-powerful options out there, but the Yoga 13 does succeed in delivering enough power in a striking and luxury body. It's the build element that elevates the score, despite the noted expense which may be enough to cause some prospective buyers to look elsewhere.

As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and when I started looking I needed at least a tablet/keyboard dock hybrid. The Yoga caught my eye for being an actual laptop with a touchscreen integrated, but the hinging allowing it to be used entirely as a tablet. I did a lot of scrutinizing of the machine on display in Best Buy before I finally purchased it to make sure it fit my needs.

The bottom line is that the Yoga 13 is a powerful, full-featured Ultrabook but the 360-degree hinge design might be as much of a design flaw as it is a unique selling point. If you want a laptop that converts into a tablet without the exposed keyboard then there are other options like the Dell XPS 12 or Lenovo's own ThinkPad Twist. If you like the various screen positons of the Yoga 13 and don't mind the exposed keyboard then this is a fabulous Windows 8 PC.

The Lenovo Yoga is an excellent laptop, a mediocre tablet, and a computer that is thoroughly modern and made for Windows 8. Its form factor and excellent screen make it a competitor at its price range against last generation’s top laptops and ultrabooks, such as the Asus Zenbook or Thinkpad X1. If you never flip the Yoga into tablet mode, it’s a great laptop, and if you do, it’s a little bit of bonus functionality that doesn’t hurt the form factor that much. At $1000, which is its MSRP price, it’s certainly a competitor, but as this form factor and set of guts starts to edge down price-wise after the holiday season, the Yoga becomes an easy laptop to recommend.

Not only can this Ultrabook be used as a laptop and a tablet, its screen can actually swivel around the hinge 360 degrees to maximize the tablet experience. It is quite big and heavy at 16.9mm and 1.47kg to use a handheld tablet for any length of time but that's the nature of a hybrid device like this. I’ll admit it – at first I was a bit skeptical of the Yoga as a concept. In theory, it seems like an Ultrabook-slash-tablet is doomed to be mediocre at best. But the Yoga is surprisingly awesome. Sure, it’s not going to replace your iPad, but for a laptop it does the tablet thing very well (and it does the laptop thing pretty well, too). It helps that the keyboard, trackpad, and touchscreen are all top-notch – the Yoga is so eminently usable that I barely care what its performance scores are.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is a very good ultrabook, and with a price tag of $999, it offers a lot—a reasonable feature set, touch screen, and good design. If you just want a great ultrabook, the Yoga 13 is good, but the Editors' Choice Toshiba Portege Z935-P300 $799.99 at Amazon Marketplace is better, with similar specs and performance, but lighter, thinner construction and a lower price. As a hybrid ultrabook, however, the Yoga 13 has a versatile touch screen, a flexible design, and the best laptop-to-tablet transition mechanics we've yet seen in a hybrid. It's good enough that we hope other manufacturers adopt similar designs, but at a better size—the Yoga 13 is just a little too big for comfortable use as a tablet. If you are shopping for a Windows 8 ultrabook laptop with touch capability and plan on only using the tablet mode occasionally, then the Yoga 13 is a smart choice; but the Dell XPS 12 is better as a tablet.

As a laptop the Yoga performs well, but as a tablet the device just seems a bit too big to use comfortably. The responsiveness of the screen could also be fine-tuned a bit to make the Windows 8 experience absolutely perfect. Because all Windows 8 Ultrabooks share the same specification - at press time, every Ultrabook featured the same base processor - hardware and design will be the differentiating factor for the next half year, and possibly longer. That means aesthetics, batteries, input device, and other intangibles will matter more than anything else. With the hyper-flexible Yoga, Lenovo has the most, or at least the first, meaningful intangible. For now, it's hard to imagine anyone topping a device that can be favorably compared to other laptops as well as tablet convertibles.

So essentially, it’s a good basic notebook with some appealing design perks, and a decent tablet if it’s all you’ve got, but not an excellent representation of either. There are some tasks for which it would be nearly perfectly suited: for instance, creating basic documents or writing, typing up notes in class, and general lightweight web browsing. Overall, however, given the inherent constraints of the chipset and operating system, the bottom line is that the Yoga 11 makes for a lousy replacement PC, but a wonderful companion.

The IdeaPad Yoga 11 is a very interesting device. It is a laptop, but an underpowered one. It is a tablet, but is larger and thicker than other tablets out there. The Yoga 11 offers the best of both worlds, for those who need it. That is the big key factor, if you really need both a tablet and laptop. As a laptop it is compact and light, but is underpowered. The NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor is only 1.3 GHz and you can only have 2GB of DDR3 memory and 64GB of storage space. If you plan on doing any intensive tasks like Photoshop, video editing or PC gaming don’t expect to be able to do them on the Yoga 11. On the tablet side of things the Yoga 11 performs well, but if you want the pure tablet experience it is going to be pretty weird holding the Yoga with the keyboard on the back. Also many other tablets offer a smaller and thinner profile.

The IdeaPad Yoga 11 carries a price tag of Rs 61,790, but you can find it online for roughly Rs 56,000. While this may seem like a good price for a Windows hybrid Ultrabook, it’s actually not. All said and done, the Yoga 11 is nothing more than a tablet with a keyboard and should not be mistaken for a real notebook. Windows RT is the main culprit here as it’s very limiting in terms of app support. The good thing is that you get a familiar working environment as Windows, but you can’t really do much with it since none of your standard EXE files will work and there isn’t any Modern app equivalent for most of them either. What you’re left with is a notebook that’s good for a bit of gaming, HD video playback, working on Office documents and Internet surfing – all of which can be done on a dedicated Android or iOS tablet, which are a lot cheaper. The Yoga 11 would make an excellent buy at about Rs 30,000 or less, but nothing more than that.

While we're pleased that there's another member of Team Windows RT on the market, the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 won't do Microsoft any favours in convincing people that it's a sensible purchase. The sky-high price tag, mediocre performance and limited capabilities need to be overcome, and getting sub-£400/$500 products on the shelves would be a good start. The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 is a nifty device in itself, but it's not as fun as Microsoft Surface, and unless you're looking for a work laptop that doubles as a nifty tablet to watch films on, we'd advise forking out for a more expensive Sony Vaio Duo 11 or the more portable Microsoft Surface.

Lenovo's been true to the Ideapad series' name: the Yoga 11 sure does deliver plenty of successful ideas within its well-built, "magic-hinged" laptop-meets-tablet design. It looks grand from the outside, and the quality screen keeps up the pace on the inside. Overall it looks like a top-form machine. If money were no object then we'd be fairly smitten by the Yoga 11. The price does buy a quality construction and a decent HD screen, but it's still a little too wallet-stretching for it to score better overall.

The Yoga 11s is easier to handle than the Yoga 13 but 30% of the weight needs to be lost if it’s going to compete in the consumer tablet space. It works as an armchair tablet though where you might find yourself flipping back-and-forth to laptop mode which can often be easier for typing. One mode which works really well is an easel mode. When we tried this on the Yoga 13 the system registered the device as ‘in laptop mode’ which meant the touch keyboard didn’t appear. On the Yoga 11S that’s not the case. Watch TV and keep the Windows 8 Wikipedia app up and ready for action. Split-screen with Twitter perhaps? The Yoga 11s is a fantastic TV-buddy.

The build quality of the Lenovo Yoga 11S is very good aside from a little keyboard flex that I mentioned. The smart choice of soft/textured plastics definitely brings the quality feel up a notch over normal plastic alternatives. The ‘slot-in’ case (not included) is stylish and modern looking, which might appeal to those of you using the Yoga 11S in a work/meeting environment. Furthermore, for a system that is a good bit smaller than the original, I expected it to be a bit lighter on its feet or perhaps a tiny bit thinner. In reality, it’s only marginally lighter than its bigger brother and the exact same thickness. Ultimately if it were up to me, I’d sit on my funds a bit longer and wait for Haswell to find its way into Lenovo’s next convertible Ultrabook.

The only thing which could make the IdeaPad Yoga 11S substantially better is a battery-extending Haswell processor. If you’re desperate to buy now, you won’t be disappointed, but we’ll be keeping our credit card on standby for the time being.

Да, второе поколение многорежимного трансформера Yoga от Lenovo однозначно обратило на себя внимание. Это и неудивительно: чего только стоит невероятно высокое разрешение экрана 3200x1800 точек, в то время как многие другие производители до сих пор выпускают свои модели с дисплеем 1366x768 пикселей! Конечно, в связи с экраном QHD+ выплывают различные недоработки, но это уже мелочи, которые, мы уверены, вскоре разработчики доведут до совершенства. Еще один приятный момент в данном гибриде – это его клавиатура. Она чрезвычайно удобная и отлично подходит даже для длительного печатанья. Ну и, разумеется, нельзя не отметить поворотный механизм ультрабука, который не только позволил устройству перестраиваться в четыре разных режима, но и оказался на редкость прочным и практичным.

Это и неудивительно: чего только стоит невероятно высокое разрешение экрана 3200x1800 точек, в то время как многие другие производители до сих пор выпускают свои модели с дисплеем 1366x768 пикселей! Конечно, в связи с экраном QHD+ выплывают различные недоработки, но это уже мелочи, которые, мы уверены, вскоре разработчики доведут до совершенства. Еще один приятный момент в данном гибриде – это его клавиатура. Она чрезвычайно удобная и отлично подходит даже для длительного печатанья. Ну и, разумеется, нельзя не отметить поворотный механизм ультрабука, который не только позволил устройству перестраиваться в четыре разных режима, но и оказался на редкость прочным и практичным.

This Core i7 version has some really impressive performance yes, but the the 360-degree screen on any Yoga 2 Pro allows interesting extended usage modes. But, and we think this is really important, it’s also a notebook that can be taken out of the box and used without any fuss at all. It performs perfectly. It’s quiet and has great battery life and from the style and build point-of-view it’s also really impressive. Our one reservation is with the screen which although it’s incredibly sharp causes some desktop software to become difficult to use at full resolution. The color cast issue could be an issue to some types of users and unfortunately that would include creative and media types that might be interested in the Yoga 2 Pro. A big red flag goes up to anyone needing 5Ghz Wi-Fi support because, strangely, it’s not available.

It's also a shame that the battery life is so low, for Haswell as least, but you are getting that gorgeous display as a trade off. For what you're paying, you're getting your money's worth.

However, these are far from deal breakers, and at the end of the day the Yoga 2 Pro is probably one of the best Ultrabooks I’ve seen this year. Its beautiful design combined with decent hardware make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a superior yet affordable Ultrabook.
